YES 2014 - A success story
YES 2014, the flagship event conducted for entrepreneurs was held on 12th September 2014 at Adlux International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Kochi. YES had fulfilled its objective set for the year 2014 and was a success in-as-much as that a whole new world of opportunities towards starting enterprises and embracing entrepreneurship was showcased to a wide perspective talented youths and students. The event successfully showcased the services and facilities the state Government is providing for prospective young entrepreneurs and provided a platform for the young innovators to showcase their innovation and technologies.
Post YES 2014
The goals set during YES 2014 has been attained in terms of creating an enabling ecosystem congenial to start-ups through creation of the technology start up policy, interventions at schools and colleges, enhancing the infrastructure for incubation , provisioning easy funds for start-ups, and arranging for mentorship and guidance. At present there is a vibrant Entrepreneurship eco system in the state and within 10 years Kerala is bound to establish itself as the one of the topmost entrepreneurial state in the country
Continuing the tempo generated at YES 2014, the Government with the help of KSIDC and agencies like Start-up mission, have worked towards realizing the promises/objectives made to young innovators / entrepreneurs in terms of Policy support, Infrastructure and Incubation facility, Financial Assistance & Mentoring Support.
The major highlights of post YES 2014 are as below.
- With the objective of providing adequate infrastructure facility to Start up entrepreneurs KSIDC had set up Business Incubation Centres at Kakkanadu and Ankamali of Ernakulam district and at UL cyber Park at Calicut District. Around 25 Start up Entrepreneurs operating their ventures at the Business Incubation Centres of KSIDC
- KSIDC had floated a seed capital assistance scheme for providing necessary financial support to Start Up Entrepreneurs in the State.
- KSIDC in association with CII & TiE Kerala conducted Business Mentoring sessions at selected institutions across the State.
- With the objective providing necessary infrastructure to Student innovators KSIDC has taken steps to set up Business Incubation Centres in association with colleges/ universities etc. at their campus.
YES CAN 2015
The second edition of Young Entrepreneurs Summit was held on 12th September 2015 at Cochin with the theme as Collaborating and Networking. The summit was more focused selected Start Up Entrepreneurs and student innovators were given opportunity to attend the summit. The summit was conducted in association with Indian Software Product Industry Round Table (ISPIRT) who has as it's members, Fellows & Evangelists successful start-up founders, successful entrepreneurs, highly placed professionals etc & India Private Equity & Ventures Capital Association (IVCA) who has as it's members leading PE, VC & Angel funding firms
The Summit was successful not only because of the huge participation & presence of various dignitaries, but mainly because of the high quality of concurrent sessions with eminent speakers. 9. The parallel sessions provided an excellent platform for the aspiring entrepreneurs to understand the potential of venture capital, ways of raising funds for their ventures, as well as to hear first-hand about how successful business models have been built around such opportunities. The investor pitch and one to one mentoring sessions provided a unique opportunity to the young start-ups to get a feel of interacting with globally successful entrepreneurs and Fund managers.
